Are\u00a0designer clothes popular in your country?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>S:\u00a0I&#8217;m sure\u00a0designer clothes are quite popular\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0popular around\u00a0there\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0around here because people are\u00a0quite,\u00a0as I mentioned,\u00a0people\u00a0are\u00a0quite well-off\u00a0around\u00a0here and,\u00a0you know,\u00a0a lot of\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0there&#8217;re\u00a0a lot of business conventions and a lot of time, people need to look\u00a0quite\u00a0presentable to others, so\u00a0designer clothes\u00a0are quite pop &#8230; common around here.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>E:\u00a0Why do you think people are willing to spend the extra money for designer clothes?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0S:\u00a0That is actually a question\u00a0I think\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0I thought about a, a, a\u00a0little bit ago because I think that designer clothes\u00a0not only\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0it has the brand that represents the high status of the person,\u00a0like they &#8230;\u00a0because they can afford them\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0they are more\u00a0expensive;\u00a0I also think that these designer brands actually have a better fashion design as it will be\u00a0significantly different\u00a0in the cuttings of the clothes and that sort of thing, which are more fitting and makes a person look more appealing. So that would be the reasons why\u00a0de,\u00a0designer\u00a0clothes are actually worth putting more money into\u00a0it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>E:\u00a0Do\u00a0you think they are worth the extra money?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>S:\u00a0Me\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0personally\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0myself?\u00a0Not that\u00a0&#8230; not really, because I think that\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0actually a lot of the\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0although the cuttings may actually be better,\u00a0I think that there&#8217;re\u00a0quite a lot of similar products\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0we can find quite a lot of similar products with a\u00a0rela\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0much cheaper price, so\u00a0I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s worth it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>E:\u00a0Let&#8217;s turn\u00a0now\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0kind of clothes\u00a0people wear\u00a0to work.\u00a0Do you think people at work\u00a0make judgments about their colleagues based on the clothes they wear to work?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>S:\u00a0Sure. They often make\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0because first impressions are very important so that\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0when we first saw a person, then a lot of the times we judge\u00a0them by how they look.\u00a0And\u00a0other than their faces, the first thing you would notice about a person is their clothing, so\u00a0it is very important for a person to look presentable in\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0at work and also\u00a0because it shows professionalism and how seriously\u00a0you take your job, so\u00a0it is very important for a person to dress well before they go to work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>E:\u00a0Do you think that people should be forced to wear certain types of\u00a0clothes\u00a0by their employers?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>S:\u00a0I think it depends, because,\u00a0like\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0for example, I&#8217;m going to be a teacher. I think that\u00a0there&#8217;re &#8230;\u00a0obviously, there should be certain rules that we should follow, but as for\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0like, like certain guidelines for us to follow. But as for like\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0should we be in the uniform?\u00a0For\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0as a teacher,\u00a0I\u00a0don&#8217;t think so. But, however, for\u00a0like\u00a0the\u00a0fast-food\u00a0chain &#8230; fast-food\u00a0shops&#8217;\u00a0waitresses and waiters,\u00a0that would be quite important for them to wear something,\u00a0like a uniform because people need to recognize them from\u00a0the\u00a0customers so that they know who to find to ask for help.\u00a0So\u00a0I think sometimes a uniform is important. Yeah.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>E:\u00a0Apart from uniforms, do you think that the way people dress for work in Hong Kong has changed in recent times?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>S:\u00a0That&#8217;s an interesting question. I never really thought about that. But I think perhaps maybe because, because people used to wear a lot more formally like suits\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0like proper suits with like\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0with different strap\u00a0&#8230; strap\u00a0or\u00a0that sort of thing.\u00a0But now people\u00a0are\u00a0tend\u00a0to go a little\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0tend to go a little bit more casual,\u00a0like\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0they don&#8217;t\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0sometimes going to work\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0doesn&#8217;t even require a tie for like business investors. So,\u00a0it has become more\u00a0casual.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>E:\u00a0Thank you.
