What is IELTS?

IELTS stands for the 'International English Language Testing System'. It aims to assess the four English skills of candidates, which are listening, reading, writing and speaking.

The score on the IELTS exam is a proof that one's English language level reaches a required standard. People take the IELTS exam for various reasons. Some may need it for further studies in English speaking countries, and some do it in order to apply for work or immigration to these countries.

Types of IELTS

There are 2 types of IELTS: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both contain tests assessing English language skills, such as listening, reading, writing and speaking. The tests for listening and speaking are the same in IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, while reading and writing are different.
